Alan Beevers features on TV show Heir Hunters after landing cash windfall

A dad-of-two landed a cash windfall – and discovered a family history he never knew he had – thanks to the BBC TV show Heir Hunters.

Courier firm boss Alan Beevers, 56, was contacted out of the blue by a research company investigating an unclaimed estate.

It turned out he was a distant relative of an elderly spinster who died in February, 2012.

Doreen Storey, of Roberttown, died with no known relatives and her home was left standing empty.

Probate genealogists, Finders International, took up the challenge to track down any surviving beneficiaries and their success will be broadcast on Monday (March 14).

Alan, of Heckmondwike, was one of 36 beneficiaries who shared £116,000. Alan, who received £1,800, said: “It was completely unexpected and came from part of the family I was completely ignorant about.

“The money was a nice surprise but I now have a family tree and a history I’d always wanted to research but never had the time. It’s amazing.”
